Considered the icon of 19th century classical ballets, Swan Lake is a story of love, betrayal and the triumph of good over evil. The portrayal of the characters, particularly in the confrontation between the purity of the White Swan and the darkness of the Black Swan, requires virtuosity and strong dramatic flair from the solo dancers, culminating in the two ‘Grand Pas de Deux’ in the second and third scenes.
