On January 27, 2025, at 9:30 AM, at the Lyrick Theater, there will be a screening of the animated film “Bartali’s Bicycle”, set in present-day Jerusalem. It tells the story of two teenage cyclists, one Jewish and one Arab, in competition with each other, united by the bicycle of Gino Bartali, the great Italian cyclist who between 1943 and 1944 helped save hundreds of Jewish refugees by traveling between Umbria and Tuscany, secretly transporting false documents printed in Assisi. The voice of Bartali is provided by Tullio Solenghi, while the final song was written and performed by Israeli singer Noa. The film is directed by Enrico Paolantonio, who will be present. This initiative is aimed at middle school students. The event is part of the program for Holocaust Memorial Day celebrations, promoted by the Municipality of Assisi, in collaboration with the “Museo della Memoria, Assisi 1943-1944”.
